He told The Shillong Times, the programme was organised by the NEC in collaboration with Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). “Around 40 students participated besides their teachers and NEC staff,” he said.

A bus has been arranged for the students, which will take them to Pynursla, East Khasi Hills. Muivah said, “The students will be taken to Pynursla. From Pynursla, the students will have to walk down to the living root bridge for two hours. I am told it is a new living root bridge which very few people know about.”

He informed that the NEC will organise a “much bigger programme” on October 21 and trek to David Scott’s trail, a famous trekking route at Mawphlang, East Khasi Hills.

It may be mentioned that the Union Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Central ministries and state governments is organizing Paryatan Parv across the country from October 5-25 which aims at focusing on benefits of tourism, to showcase diverse culture of India reinforcing the principal of “tourism for all.”
