Cong, PDF face-off in Jirang

 SHILLONG: Jirang constituency on the extreme corner of the state is heading for a direct fight between the Congress and the People’s Democratic Front (PDF).
While sitting MLA Lamboklang Mylliem of the North East Socialist Democratic Party would join the PDF seeking re-election from the constituency, the Congress on the other hand has three candidates who are vying for a ticket.
Szarita Laitphlang is one of them who is seeking a Congress ticket as she has held several important positions in the state Congress.Also, she was featured in the autobiography of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, ‘Rahul’.
Two more contenders B Nongmali, a contractor, and W Syngkli, a former government official, are also trying to get Congress ticket to contest the election from Jirang constituency.
