SHILLONG: With media reports quoting NPP legislator Nihim D Shira indicating the entry of Congress Minister Deborah Marak to UDP, the latter rubbished the theory, while UDP said it had already allotted ticket to a party man.
Shira had claimed that the Block Congress leader, Sengbat Marak, will get the Congress ticket from Williamnagar and not Deborah and in this situation, she will contest from UDP.
Both Deborah and Sengbat had applied for Congress ticket.
According to Shira, UDP candidate, Maham Singh Sangma is ready to part with the seat to Deborah.
In response, Deborah said that this was the figment of Nihim’s imagination.
“How can I leave the party with which I am associated for long”, Deborah said.
She also said that Sengbat is no longer associated with the district
congress committee.
When contacted, UDP president Donkupar Roy said that the ticket was already allotted to Sangma.
Roy also said he had not heard about any new development.
