SHILLONG: Sadar police detained as many as 29 revellers for bursting crackers after 10 pm on Thursday.
Police said 10 persons were also detained for gambling while 10 more were detained for drinking and creating nuisance.
Police also found that gambling was taking place inside the PWD compound at Barik and one of the quarters of Shillong Club.
Police launched the crackdown on drunkards and gamblers to ensure peaceful Diwali.
