C P Joshi hopes for a Congress win in Meghalaya polls

SHILLONG: AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya, CP Joshi is optimistic that the Congress will form the next Government in Meghalaya when the hill state goes to elections next year.

Speaking to media persons after arriving here in Shillong on Tuesday, CP Joshi said that the way Meghalaya Government had developed the state, the party was quite confident that it would once again form the Government in the state.

The AICC leader is in Shillong to take the feedback of the officer bearer, MLAs and frontal organisations for the elections which is just around 4 months away.

“Based on the feedback, we will prepare our strategy,” he said.

On being asked about BJP and NCP making inroads in the state, he said that every party tries to have presence in every part of the country and BJP and NCP are doing the same in the state.

“Our party is united and they are preparing well here in the state,” Joshi said.

The AICC leader shortly after arriving in Shillong held closed door discussions with Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, DD Lapang and senior leaders of the party. The AICC leader would meet MLAs, frontal organizations and other wings of the party on Wednesday.
