SHILLONG: A member of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) from 16-East Mandal (constituency), Ajoy Nongrum, has resigned from the primary membership of the party as well as membership of the mandal alleging that the party is “infested with selfish and visionless functionary right from the state level itself.”

Tendering his resignation to the president of the state BJP, Shibun Lyngdoh, Nongrum stated that he had raised a number of issues concerning the well-being of the party and style of functioning of the party from time to time.

“…But it seems there is no point in raising such issues since the party itself is infested with selfish and visionless functionary right from the state level itself,” he said.

Further, criticizing the party, Nongrum added, “It is also very surprising to note that till date the BJP Meghalaya does not even have an elected state body even when the state is going to the polls in barely four months.”

It may be recalled that the president of the Shillong city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Daniel Lyngdoh, had also resigned from the party on October 6.
