SHILLONG:   People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MDC from Nongkrem, HS Shylla, has collected the primary membership form of the National People’s Party (NPP) and will submit the same at NPP’s office October 26, Friday for shifting his political allegiance.

Confirming about his shift from People’s Democratic Front (PDF) to NPP, Shylla said that his supporters had asked him to join NPP

He told The Shillong Times, “For ten years, Nongkrem constituency has suffered a lot.”

He stated that the supporters have turned to NPP as they are confident that the party will wield power in 2018. The party has a strong base in Garo Hills as well as in Jaintia Hills.

“If not absolute, NPP will emerge the single largest party,” he predicted.

Meanwhile, PDF has fielded Hilarius Pohshen as the candidate from Nongkrem constituency.

When asked as to when he resigned from the PDF, Shylla said that there was no need to resign officially from the PDF as they did not sign the primary membership form.

It may be recalled that Shylla won the MDC bye-election from a UDP ticket. However, he shifted allegiance recently to the PDF which is a 6-months-old party.
