SHILLONG: Loads of music coupled with a variety of local cuisine marked the Bacardi NH7 Weekender as the curtains came down on the country’s largest multi-genre music festival at the picturesque Wenfield – The Festive Hills at Lad Mukhla in Jaintia Hills on Saturday.
One of the most anticipated events in India, the festival was once again attended by thousands of music lovers from across the country.
The second day of the event featured a packed line-up with big names such as American guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, besides The Rudy Wallang Guitar Jamboree, Faridkot, Khasi Bloodz, Rahul Rajkhowa and others.
Steve had his first ever performance in India while world music group, Karsh Kale Collective and hip-hop act, Divine also performed.
Guitar fans were in for a treat as, apart from Steve’s highly-anticipated set, there were specially curated sets by local favourite, Rudy Wallang (of blues rock band Soulmate), who collaborated with guitarists from across the North East.
There was a performance by Blackstratblues led by Warren Mendonsa, who had recently released their fourth album, The Last Analog Generation.The North-East’s vibrant and strong music scene saw several of its top acts. ) Apart from The Jamboree, there were performances by Dewdrops, Triau Trackx, Sarahlee, Khasi Bloodz (all Meghalaya), Tali Angh (Nagaland), and Sarahlee (Meghalaya).
The festival grounds included a vibrant bazaar with shops displaying and selling fashion accessories. Food stalls catered to various tastes and provided visitors from outside the region a chance to savour local cuisine.
