TURA: A day out on the riverside for a picnic ended in tragedy for a student from NEHU, Tura campus, who drowned in the Ganol river at Chibragre, 15 km from here, on Saturday afternoon.
A group of students from the Tura NEHU campus had gone for a picnic to the site near Rongram and plunged into the waters for a swim. When they emerged from the water, they found one of their friends, Benlo Kent (23) from Kohima, missing.
Frantic search in the river proved futile and the police were alerted.
A team of divers from the Fire and Emergency rescue department later retrieved the body. Kent was a first year student of the Agri-Business Management Department.
