3 dead in Ri Bhoi road mishaps

NONGPOH: Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Ri Bhoi district on Saturday night.
Ri Bhoi police sources informed that two men from Assam who were on a motorcycle (bearing registration number AS12 C5396) were run over by a vehicle at 12th Mile under Byrnihat police outpost around midnight.
The rider of the bike, Duryodhan, and Jitu Deka, who was riding pillion, were found dead on the spot.
The bodies were handed over to their relatives after post mortem.
In another accident, the driver of a Maruti Zen (bearing registration number AS-12C- 2378) identified as Tynshain Kurbah died on national highway 6 at Ladsharai village around 8.30 pm on Saturday.
Police said the Zen had taken the wrong lane before dashing against a Bolero pick-up vehicle (bearing registered number ML 05 M – 9481). An occupant of the Zen identified as Rishan Mawnai was seriously injured.
The police are investigating the cause of the mishap.
