SHILLONG: The Public Relations Officer of the Meghalaya Electricity Corporation Limited (MeECL) has asserted that senior officers of the MeECL requested the MeECL Progressive Workers’ Union (MPWU) to have meeting only with the union members and not with unknown persons who are not employees of the Corporation.

The MPWU brought along Thma U Rangli Juki (TUR) member, Angela Rangad at a meeting which was fixed by the Director Corporate Affairs of the MeECL on November 1, however, the officials objected to her presence.

In a statement issued here, the PRO stated that without intimating the management, the representatives of the Union have brought along “unknown persons who are not employees of the Corporation.”

The senior officers of the MeECL requested that only the representatives of the Union should attend the meeting as the grievances relate to internal issues within the organization.

“However, the offer was summarily rejected by the president and the secretary of the union who thereafter decided to only submit their petition to the Management,” the statement mentioned.

The MPWU termed Rangad as an invitee member of the union.
