Fire destroys five shops in Tura

TURA: A fire that broke out late Thursday night destroyed five shops near the Dikki-Bandi stadium in Tura’s Dakopgre locality.
The fire, which started at around 10:40 in the night was quickly spotted by a CRPF sentry on duty outside the campus of the 120 Bn of the central paramilitary force.
The constable raised the alarm and the unit control room immediately informed the town’s fire brigade and the power department to cut electricity to the area to prevent any spread of the inferno.Two fire tenders along with CRPF water tanker and personnel fought the blaze and brought it under control past midnight.
“A big hazardous calamity was stopped by the quick response of authorities as the shops included lubricants, gas cylinders, tyres etc which were highly inflammable in nature,” said 120 Bn CRPF Commandant B C Dalbehera.
An investigation is underway by police to ascertain the cause of the fire.
