TURA: Motorsports enthusiasts from the region will showcase their driving skills on dirt tracks and rough terrain during the upcoming Bilgaro motorsports competition which takes place at Rangsakona on the 11th and 12th of this month.
The event which is in its third year, is being organised by the Tura Motor Sports Club and will have two different formats of competition.
There will be a Sprint Race covering approximately four kms from Wakagre starting point to Rongbakgre.
The Auto Cross event that will display the various skills of the drivers will be held at Rangsakona field.
The organisers are expecting as many as 30 participants from outside Garo Hills including national motorsports champion Amanpreet Ahluwalia who won last year’s Bilgaro event.
A total prize money of Rs. 2.5 lakh is up for grabs in the various categories which will primarily feature four-wheel drive vehicles and sports utility vehicles (SUVs). Rangsakona MLA and cabinet minister Zenith Sangma is expected to be the chief guest at the event.
