Kidnapped minor girl rescued by Ri-Bhoi police

NONGPOH: A minor girl (16) who had been allegedly kidnapped by miscreants from Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District was rescued by the Ri-Bhoi district police on Wednesday.

As per sources in the Ri Bhoi police, the complaint was first lodged at Khliehriat police station that a minor girl in her 16 went missing. However, based on specific input, Ri Bhoi police intercepted them at Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi District at around 3:30 pm while they were proceeding towards Guwahati on a tourist taxi. The police also managed to arrest the kidnapper.

The Ri Bhoi Police further said that the kidnapper is still under inquiry and the girl will be handed over to her relative after conducting formal procedure.
