SHILLONG: Land owners in East Garo Hills alleged that the state government has not paid them compensation after acquiring their lands for the construction of National Highway-44 E from Rongjeng to Nongstoin-Shillong.
The residents mostly from the Garo community have alleged that the Deputy Commissioner of Williamnagar has only paid the compensation money to non-affected persons by manipulating the list.
They have written a letter to the deputy commissioner of East Garo Hills on Monday, urging the DC to look into the matter or conduct spot inquiry and help them to get their money.
