SHILLONG: The state BJP observed the first anniversary of demonetisation as ‘Anti-black money Day’ on Wednesday claiming that demonetisation has brought stability to the economy.

“We are marching ahead towards a stable economy,” state president of BJP, Shibun Lyngdoh told reporters even as he claimed that extremists and Naxal activities have reduced by 80 percent due to the economic turnaround.

However, he admitted that 20 per cent of extremists’ activities still remained in the country as he puts it as an “ongoing battle.”

Lyngdoh said that demonetisation was declared on grounds to fight black money, corruption, to check counterfeit notes and to tackle extremists’/Naxalite activities.

Lauding the step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation, he said that it has brought many benefits to the people.

“Foreign countries have appreciated the steps taken and want to invest in India because India will move ahead in the right direction,” he added.
