Agatha & Thomas, kin of Dhar brothers on NPP first list

SHILLONG: Former MPs Agatha Sangma and Thomas Sangma, and sitting legislators James Sangma and Nihim Shira are on the first list of 24 NPP candidates released by the party on Thursday.
The list released by state NPP president WR Kharlukhi also includes Wailadmiki Shylla, brother-in-law of rebel Congress legislator Sniawbhalang Dhar, and Dasakhiatbha Lamare, son of another rebel MLA Ngaitlang Dhar.
Former MLAs Manirul Islam Sarkar, Timothy D Shira, FW Momin and Marcuise N Marak also find place on the list.
The party also cleared the name of sitting MDC from Nongkrem, HS Shylla, to contest from Nongkrem.
Lawanpynshngain K. War, son of late legislator Kitdor Syiem, will contest from Mairang. NPP has also fielded former government official FCA Sangma to contest from Selsella.
When contacted, NPP national president and Tura MP Conrad Sangma said NPP has received overwhelming response from the people of the state. “We are happy with the response of all sections of people,” he added.
