Preparation on for Turathon Hill Challenge

TURA: The Tura Runners’ Club (TRC) is putting in final touches to its preparations for the Turathon Hill Challenge, 2017 which will include an Expo on Saturday concluding with the Full Marathon on Sunday.

The Expo on the first day will be show casing different aspects of Garo Hills.

Organizers of the event have informed that the Tourism Department and Art and Culture Department of the Government of Meghalaya will participate in the expo besides local artisans. The distribution of the Bibs and other event essentials will be done on the day.

It may be mentioned that the Turathon2017 is using the new track for the first time for full Marathon which will offer a view of the picturesque natural beauty. Other than the race the participant will have the option of enjoying the Garo Village lifestyle in Stay-ins in traditional houses along with traditional cuisines.

The Full Marathon will start from Jengjal to Megagre and back. Hydration points will be set up every 2.5 Km along the course and the route monitored by more than one hundred volunteers, marshals and Medical Team.

According to the TRC, prizes worth about 7 lakhs will be given away to the winners in the three categories for men and women.
