SHILLONG: Senior Congress leader in Meghalaya, Rowell Lyngdoh on Monday said that he and a group of legislators would join the National People’s Party (NPP) after the dates of State Assembly elections are announced.
He said that they would remain with Congress till the last moment since they were elected from Congress party.
He also expressed confidence that the NPP would fair very well in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.
It may be mentioned that a group of Congress legislators including Rowell Lyngdoh, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Ngaitlang Dhar have already made their intentions to contest the upcoming Assembly elections on NPP ticket.
Claiming that the party has very good chances in many constituencies which are presently held by MLAs of other parties, the veteran politician also expressed confidence that Nongstoin Constituency which is a stronghold for Hill State People’s Democratic Party may come in NPP’s bag.
The Nongstoin constituency is a strong hold for HSPDP as the constituency for a very long time has not seen any MLA from another party apart from HSPDP.
Lyngdoh also said that Ranikor constituency might go to Congress party in the next Assembly polls.
