SHILLONG: It is still three months to the Assembly elections and ministers have already stopped coming to the Secretariat.
Most of the Cabinet ministers are staying away from the Secretariat as they are busy concentrating in their respective constituencies.
The second and third floors of the Secretariat building where ministers sit remain empty and only their office staff are visible.
On Monday, only Health and Family Welfare Minister Roshan Warjri, besides Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, was seen in office.
A section of the lower rank staff at the Secretariat said most of the ministers come once in few days to complete the pending work but leave immediately.
“Now they prefer to sign even the files in their homes,” the staff said on request of anonymity. They added that their work is now certainly much easier.
