Statehood rally in Tura today

TURA: The Garo Hills State Movement Committee which is spearheading the demand for a separate state comprising of the Garo dominated areas is going ahead with its ‘mega public rally’ in Tura on Wednesday with a procession through the main thoroughfares of the town.
The rally will start from 11 am.
“We have invited all public leaders, politicians, student bodies, NGOs, like-minded communities and all the Garo people wherever they inhabit to take part in the rally and show the strongest strength and spirit to have our very own state,” said Balkarin Ch Marak, the co-chairman of the GHSMC.
According to the organisers, the route of the rally would begin from Chandmari playground – Ringrey-DC Office-Tura Bazar-Hawakhana and culminate at the New Tura playground where leaders would address the crowd.
