Guv praises India’s tech progress

SHILLONG: Governor Ganga Prasad said on Thursday that in this digital era, science can reach the masses in the country through technology.
Addressing a gathering at the inaugural programme of the 10th North East Bio-informatics Network (NEBInet) Centre at St Edmund’s College, Prasad said, “The changing times have also inculcated a culture of cross-departmental and inter-disciplinary research. We have made forays into the new frontier areas of science and technology.”
The governor also praised the progress in bioinformatics in India which has “emerged as a cutting edge technology and knowledge revolution”.
According to him, the breakthrough in biology research was made possible by advancement in using bioinformatics and computational biology.
He was confident that through discussions and innovative ideas, the meeting will open up new avenues to make substantial advancements in biological sciences.
