SHILLONG: The Congress has decided to issue showcause notice to senior party leaders Prestone Tynsong and Rowell Lyngdoh for speaking against the party and the government.
The party also dared its two rebel leaders to resign before criticising Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and the government.
Congress minister and spokesperson Ronnie Lyngdoh had said on Thursday that Tynsong should have resigned from the party before criticising the chief minister.
Tynsong, during a public meeting called by NPP at Sohryngkham, had denounced Mukul for lack of consultations. Later, he had reiterated his views to the media.
Similarly, Rowell was also critical over the functioning of the government and the party.
“It would be ideal for the Congress legislators to quit the party if they do not like the functioning of the party functionaries and the government,” Ronnie had said.
He had also said the party would issue showcause notice to Prestone and Rowell.
