SHILLONG: United Democratic Party (UDP) senior leader, Bindo M Lanong   has asked the State Government to come up with wages Act for the skilled workers and labourers so as to increase their wages.

Responding to a query about the new pay revision for the government employees, Lanong said that the party was happy   about the new pay hike for the government employees   as long as government can pay it.

He added that the government should also think for the workers, labourers and other categories of people too.

Lanong also said that the quality of work has to be improved by everybody and there should be more dedication.

The senior leader from UDP had asked the Government to clear all the pending bills of the contractors and suppliers of the different departments

The statement came from Lanong after the State Cabinet on Friday approved the revised pay that is being made effective from January 1, 2017.

The employees will receive the new pay with an overall hike of 268 percent from next month.
