Illegal liquors seized at Umroi bypass.

NONGPOH: Despite repeated warnings and raids conducted by women body of Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong and members of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) against those involved in selling illegal liquors in Bhoirymbong Area, this illegal business is fluorishing day by day.

This has come to light when members of the women body of Lumdaitkhla Bhoirymbong led by R Mawthoh, President and A Hing, Secretary in collaboration with members of the HYC led by Tyngshaiñ Makri conducted a surprised raid on Saturday and Sunday morning at Umroi Bypass within Bhoirymbong Area.

During the surprised raid on Staurday, as many as 300 litres of local liquor, 230 bottles of IMFL liquor and 32 bottles of beers were seized at one secluded place near Umroi bypass. However, the owner of this seized liquors is unknown and no one has come forward to claim.

In another surprised raid conducted on Sunday morning, 10 more litres of local liquor and 23 bottles of IMFL liquor were seized from the compound of a shop owned by one, Unstation Trang, a resident of Bhoirymbong near Umroi Bypass.

With the General Assembly elections near the corner, the women body is keeping a strict vigil on this illegal business which has destroyed many youths and families of the village.

In this connection, an FIR has been lodged at Umiam Police Station for investigation, leader of HYC, Tyngshaiñ Makri said.

Meanwhile, the women body along with the HYC leaders strongly issued warning against those involved in this illegal trade, stating that severe punishment with taken against them.
