MPUF clarifies on schemes

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People United Front, East Jaintia Hills (MPUF) has clarified that media reports about the SRWP schemes in some local newspapers were based on complaints made by the people of Pynurkba village.
It was the villagers who complained that they were not aware or informed of such schemes and the association did not do anything wrong by giving the report to the media, MPUF president Michal Chyrmang informed.
However, it was alleged that the media reports on the issue were not true. The association said that they were trying to help the villagers who claimed that they were not aware about Swacch Bharat Mission, distribution of tin-roofs, and other schemes under SRWP.
It tried to meet the headman Ras Rymbai who promised over phone to meet the members but till date, he did not turn up.
According to their RTI findings, some schemes released under SRWP were availed by the village secretary Hamlet Pdang.
