SHILLONG: There is a need for more leaders of the calibre of Paul Lyngdoh if Meghalaya is to forge ahead, former Chief Secretary PJ Bazeley has said.
Addressing a gathering at the Academic Achievers Award ceremony organised by the West Shillong Youth Wing, Bazeley said he was optimistic about the future of education in Meghalaya as there are more windows of opportunity as compared to decades ago.
UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh highlighted the need for Shillong to regain its eminence as the education hub of the region.
Later, while the toppers were gifted with laptops, the other achievers were handed over cash, certificates and mementos by guests, including MLA Embhah Syiemlieh and USTM chancellor M Hoque.
