SHILLONG: Two weeks after the High Court verdict on the education scam, the state government is yet to take any decision on the matter.
An official said the government is yet to take a call and it is not known whether it will appeal before the Supreme Court.
The High Court in its November 2 ruling wanted the government to scrap the entire appointment of teachers carried out in 2010.
The court also ordered that the CBI should probe the criminal aspect of the scam involving politicians, besides carrying out another probe into all centres where examinations were conducted. The previous CBI probe covered only five centres.
The order was following the first CBI probe and the subsequent report of the state-appointed High Level Scrutiny Committee, which found large-scale anomalies in the recruitment process of teachers when the current Cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was the education minister.
The court, while scrapping the entire recruitment process ruled that the non-tainted teachers can apply for the posts afresh irrespective of their age and the tainted can appeal before the chief secretary to prove that they are not blemished.
When contacted, an official source said the government is yet to constitute a committee headed by the chief secretary to examine the plea of the tainted teachers as ordered by the court.
The order also made it clear that if the non-tainted teachers cannot substantiate that they are unblemished, they would not be allowed to apply for any government job in future.
As far as the aspect of fresh CBI probe is concerned, sources said the CBI Shillong had sought the nod of the central authorities to start the investigation.
