SHILLONG: Film makers in the state asserted that the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma did not fulfill his assurance given to the film-making fraternity during the India Panorama Festival.

Commander Shangpliang, Khasi filmmaker, told reporters prior to the release of the Khasi-Jaintia musical movie, “Thong Iong Nga” directed by Simi Kongtiang, that there had been no support from the government to filmmakers of the state.

“He has assured us that he will establish a hall (to screen only Khasi films) and we even have the statement on record. The government also assured to come up with a Film policy,” he said.

He added that there were only points given during a meeting held with the government and it was up to the government to implement the Film Policy.  Shangpliang stated that the assurances of the government turned out to be hollow.
