SHILLONG: BJP Mahila Morcha National General Secretary Pooja Mishra has blamed the state government for poor implementation of central schemes like Mudra and Jan Dhan Yojana.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday during her five-day visit to Meghalaya, Mishra said banks in Meghalaya are asking people to deposit Rs 500, Rs 1000 and Rs 2000 to open Jan Dhan accounts, which is not the case in other parts of the country
The scheme was launched in 2014 to ensure financial inclusion by offering zero-balance accounts across commercial banks.
“There is no UJALA scheme, no maternity leaves, no gas connection and all rubbish things are going here,” she added.
Mishra claimed that BJP is making its presence felt in Meghalaya and now “people know who is Narendra Modi and what is the symbol of the party”.
Giving the credit for good roads in Meghalaya to the three-year rule of the BJP government in the country, she said youths in Meghalaya want change “that will definitely come”.
When asked why the party leaders are criticising the state’s underdevelopment now and were mum on it for years, the national party’s women wing leader said BJP has set an example of governance for the country and others should follow it.
“We come here as it is like an examination for us and we have to perform,” she said.
