SHILLONG: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has said those who do not possess Aadhaar numbers in the state will be able to register with it.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, EPFO said in the wake of complaints that many people in Assam and Meghalaya were unable to generate UAN number, a new functionality has been provided where the employer needs to log into the Unified Portal and select ‘Register Individual’ under the ‘Member’ tab.
A checkbox has been provided in the ‘Register Individual’ page which says ‘Member is from North East Region’. If the employee is from the North East and does not hold an Aadhaar number then the employer can check the above box and generate a UAN number.
