PDF names first list of 11 poll candidates

SHILLONG: The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDF) has announced the names of eleven poll candidates in its first list of candidates who will contest the forthcoming state Assembly elections on Thursday.

From Jaintia Hills, the PDF candidate for Nartiang is Draishon Kharshiing who is pitched against sitting MLA Sniawbhalang Dhar, who is expected to join the National People’s Party (NPP).

While from South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills, the PDF has named Hadrian Lyngdoh for Mawkyrwat, Good Leaderson Nongsiej for Nongstoin and Morningstar Mawsor for Mawshynrut who will fight against veteran politician Rowell Lyngdoh (set to join NPP), HSPDP MLA D. Jyndiang and HSPDP Witting Mawsor respectively.

In East Khasi Hills, PDF has pitched Latiplang Kharkongor for Nongthymmai seat who will face sitting UDP MLA Jemino Mawthoh, PDF’s Banteidor Lyngdoh (Mawkynrew) will face MLA Remington Pyngrope.

In Ri-Bhoi, for Mawhati seat, PDF put up James Sylliang and another candidate, Jason Sawkmie Mawlong who is set to fight for the Umsning seat against Congress’ Celestine Lyngdoh.

In East Khasi Hills, PDF has named Grace Mary Kharpuri (Pynursla), Hamletson Dohling (Mylliem) and Air Marshall Diengngan (Ranikor).

Kharpuri will face disgruntled Congress MLA Prestone Tynsong while both Dohling and Diengngan will face Congress MLAs Ronnie Lyngdoh and Martin Danggo.
