SHILLONG: Cosmic Clusters of ‘U Syiem’ fame will train three to five students for free keeping in mind that local talent in animation is non-existent due to high course fee.
However, Cosmic Clusters said there are certain conditions which students have to fulfil for the training.
They have to give a one-time security deposit of Rs 50,000 for six months which will be refunded after completion of the course.
The students will get offer to work on international projects.
Asked about the security deposit, Cosmic Clusters said a few months ago, it had an internship programme and recruited around 10 students but only three were serious for the job affecting time and resources.
Also, the amount they spent on one student for six months was around Rs 1 lakh as new workstations had to be installed.
As A.I (artificial Intelligence), e-learning and content are the future of media streaming so the amount of investment in training talent and research will be fruitful after a decade as the animation and visual effects (VFX) industry continues to grow with many talented Indians now rubbing shoulders with global counterparts.
According to the KPMG India-FICCI Indian Media and Entertainment Industry Report 2017, the Indian animation and VFX industry grew at 16.4 per cent in 2016 to reach a size of Rs 59.5 billion, driven majorly by a 31 per cent growth in VFX, with animation maintaining a steady growth of 9 per cent.
Netflix is also aggressively looking to partner with local studios to come up with more content for children.
