Miscreants attempt bank robbery in Nongstoin
NONGSTOIN:  Miscreants trespassed and broke opened the Meghalaya Rural Bank at Nondein branch and the presbytery house at Nondein, New Nongstoin on Wednesday. Accordingly, Nongstoin Police Station  has deputed and conducted spot enquiry and found that the miscreants broke opened the building of Rev RT. Shangdiar of Upper New Nongstoin and the Meghalaya Rural Bank through the shutter in the same building and stole one CPU, and two monitors from the said bank costing about Rs. 33, 000. However, the miscreants could not open the safe deposit box of the bank. Rev. Tollnington Shangdiar on filed an FIR on Thursday in relation to the matter. In this connection a case has been registered under Nongstoin.“We got the suspect names that recently go out by bail and we are trying to arrest the culprit and recover the stolen items”, a police official said.

Kuroiler birds distributed to partners at Zikzak
AMPATI: In a move to encourage homestead farming activities for sustainable livelihood and nutritional security, Government Chief Whip and Salmanpara MLA Winnerson Sangma along with Mahendraganj MLA Dikkanchi D Shira, on Wednesday distributed kuroiler birds to partners at Zikzak C&RD Block, South West Garo Hills. During the daylong programme organised by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Livestock Mission, around 1,230 kuroiler birds were distributed to ten groups of partners under the Special Plan scheme. Feeding and watering troughs besides feed were also distributed. The distribution is part of the government’s initiative to uplift the economic condition of the people of the region through backyard poultry farming and at the same time ensuring nutritional security. Sangma urged the people to embrace the initiative and make an example for others to emulate. Speaking on the benefits of kuroilers farming Sangma said that the particular birds grew faster and heavier than normal chicken and therefore could be sold for more amounts. A three month old kuroilers can be sold for rupees 1,200 hence rearing more birds will reap in huge profit Sangma said. The birds also lay more eggs, he added. Sangma informed that besides poultry farming the government is encouraging piggery and dairy farming under the livestock mission. He stated that pigs had been brought and that it would be distributed to partners shortly.

Two juveniles apprehended for burglary
NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin Police has apprehended two juveniles (14 and 16), for committing burglary at Upper New Nongstoin (WKH). The juveniles were forwarded to the Principal Magistrate.

Four motorcycles stolen
SHILLONG: As many as four two wheelers have been stolen from Shillong and East Garo Hills district in the past three days On November 22, miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-05J-8845) belonging to Partho Pritham Paul from Mawpun. On November 21 circa 9 pm, miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-05E-4796) belonging to Sanjay Kumar Singh from Jail Road. In another incident, miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-07B-0152) belonging to Pingstone D Sangma from his residence at Denggagre village in East Garo Hills on November 20 circa 2 am. On November 20 around 4.30 am, a motorcycle (ML-09A-2037) belonging to Donithson M Sangma was stolen from his residence at Samgong.
