MAWKYRWAT: The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Friday appointed ad hoc president and secretary of its Mawkyrwat circle to ensure the victory of UDP-HSPDP candidate Renikton L. Tongkhar. Hapbok Lyngkhoi and Synshar Lyngkhoi were elected as ad hoc president and secretary, respectively, in place of Tyngshain K Lyngdoh and Bateibok Marbaniang, who were removed for not supporting the alliance candidate.
“This order (of the new recruits) will come into effect immediately in which only the ad hoc president or secretary can call a meeting in the name of UDP Mawkyrwat circle,” UDP South West Khasi Hills president GG Bung Snaitang said on Friday.

“The newly appointed members should call the meeting of the circle immediately and take a decision to support the alliance candidate for the 2018 elections and to form the UDP-HSPDP Co-ordination Committee, Mawkyrwat constituency together with the HSPDP,” he added.
Snaitang also said it is the duty of the ad hoc president and the secretary to organise a meeting for election of the new president and secretary of the Circle, and if needed to re-elect all the office bearers of the party.
