BAGHMARA: Mukul Sangma launched the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission and simultaneously laid the foundation stone for the multi-facility centre at Warima in Chokpot Civil Sub-Division in South Garo Hills on Saturday.
Sangma said with a view to bring more developmental schemes, this year the government had sanctioned Rs 1,400 crore under MGNREGS. He added that funds for this region under the Chief Minister’s Piggery and Livestock Mission were also released.
The number of beneficiaries has been increased from around 500 to 2,000 in Chokpot sub-division.
He also urged the people to restraint from anti-element activities like threatening and extortion and sought their cooperation in implementing developmental schemes in the region.
Sangma lauded the government officials for their dedicated service in the region. He also promised to set up a community college in Chokpot and asked the local leaders present at the function to identify the site for the purpose.
Bluebell R Sangma, local MLA and Chairman of MSDRC, lauded the chief minister for his “ceaseless efforts to bring development to the people of this region”.
Deputy Commissioner in-charge of South Garo Hills Ashish M Sangma informed the gathering that the sanction had been accorded for 1,007 piggery sheds in this financial year.
Later, Sangma distributed cheques among beneficiaries under the Livestock Mission.
