SHILLONG: National Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha Pooja Kapil Mishra, who completed a five-day tour of Meghalaya to boost the party’s performance in the upcoming Assembly elections, said the time has come for a change of government in the state.
Mishra was accompanied by Pelcy Snaitang, BJP Mahila Morcha President in Meghalaya, in all the meetings during her trip.
Earlier on November 19, she addressed the women party workers in Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi.
She began her visit to Shillong by offering prayers at the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Laitumkhrah and attended a meeting of members of mandals at a meeting held in Nongthymmai.
A meeting of party workers was held in Mawkisyien village, Sohra, on November 20 and she was welcomed there with a rendition of a song praying for much required ‘winds of change’.
This was followed by a Mahila party workers’ meeting of Shillong City District at the party office in the city in the presence of Ram Lal, National General Secretary (organisation).
A meeting of the state executive body of BJP Mahila Morcha was also held on the same day where the need to strengthen the party for the upcoming elections was discussed.
On November 21, Mishra visited South West Khasi Hills where a Mahila booth sammelan was held in polling stations at Puksora, Ranikor Mandal.
On November 22, a meeting of Mahila Morcha karyakartas was held in Jowai and she also addressed booth karyakartas in Nartiang, Jaintia Hills.
The following day, she attended a Mahila Karyakarta Sammelan at Dalu, West Garo Hills. Mishra in her meetings spoke on the various central schemes meant for women and children and the urgent need for better education, health benefits and infrastructural development for the state.
She stressed on the need to have a change of government since the present Congress-led government had failed in all respects to deliver good governance and execute many central welfare schemes.
