JOWAI: A veteran politician of Jaintia Hills who has been the JHADC chief for many times has decided to contest the 2018 Assembly elections from Khliehriat constituency.
Obil Kyndait, who was elected from erstwhile LA constituency (now Khliehriat) in1978 and is a five time MDC from Tuber-Wapung and later Tuber District Council Constituency, has decided not to take rest and instead be in the poll fray.
Kyndait is likely to contest from a PDF ticket. The PDF will organize a public meeting at Wapungskur market on December 1.
The senior-most politician from Jaintia Hills will face the sitting MLA Justine Dkhar who is likely to contest from BJP and Kyrmen Shylla from UDP. MDC, Violet Lyngdoh is another ticket aspirant from BJP.
Kyndait has also been elected JHADC chairman in his last term in 2009-14.The decision comes in the wake of two senior colleagues, DD Lapang and RC Laloo, opting out from contesting the Assembly elections despite being in the present ministry led by chief minister Mukul Sangma.
