21 coal trucks detained for NGT violation

SHILLONG: Many coal-laden trucks have been detained in Ri Bhoi and West Jaintia Hills in the last few days.
On November 26, police detected 14 coal-laden trucks at Umbir, Umiam (Ri Bhoi) while transporting coal without valid documents. One driver was arrested while thirteen fled away. On the same day, police detected four coal laden trucks at Umsamlem and Umtrew Sawmill while transporting coal without valid documents. The matter is still under investigation.
Earlier on November 23, police detected three trucks, all with Meghalaya registration numbers, which were transporting coal in violation of NGT order at Shkentalang village in West Jaintia Hills.

NONGSTOIN: Police informed that on Monday at 1pm, Mithun Dutta of Dasar Shallang, reported a case at Shallang PS that one person was found hanging inside an abandoned hut located in Dasar village under Shallang PS. The person was identified as Sorat Rabha (25) of Gobindapur village Goalpara, Assam.
The body was later handed over to his brother after all formalities has been observed. A case in this connection has been registered.
