SHILLONG: Chairman of State Food Commission, B.K Dev Verma said on Monday that the panel was committed to streamline schemes such as mid-day meal, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS).
Verma said if anyone has grievances over the implementation of the schemes, they can first approach the officers at the district level.
“The role of the commission comes only when the grievances are not redressed at the district level and the aggrieved persons can appeal before the commission,” Verma said.
The commission has not received any complaints after it was formed a year ago.
“We will create awareness programmes so that people will be the partners in the smooth implementation of Food Security Act,”Verma said.
Besides, Verma, who is the retired additional chief secretary, a few retired officers were also appointed as members of the commission.
