New Delhi : The Railways on Tuesday suspended one Permanent Way (PW)-in-charge for the derailment of the Patna-Vasco Da Gama Express in Uttar Pradesh’s Manikpur last Friday.

Railway Ministry spokesperson Anil Saxena told IANS: “The PW-in-charge Rajesh Kumar Verma has been suspended following the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)-level inquiry.”

At least three people died and over nine persons were injured after 13 coaches of the Bihar-bound Patna-Vasco Da Gama Express derailed at Manikpur station on November 24.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had ordered the probe into the accident.

Additional Director General (Law and Order) Anand Kumar of Uttar Pradesh had said on Friday that the derailment occurred due to a fracture in the railway tracks. (IANS)
