SHILLONG: Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma along with Mawryngkneng, MLA David Nongrum who visited Lum Swai, the site for public worship in the Annual Meeting of the KJP Synod Mihngi, 2018 to be held at Tynring in March 2018 gave a proposal to the residents of the villager to develop the site like an asset which can have space for large congregation.
The annual meeting is scheduled to be held from March 15-18.
Speaking at a reception meeting later at Tynring Presbyterian Higher Secondary School after inspecting the site, Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma said that the site where the Annual Meeting would be held could be developed in a way which could hold large congregation.
He also informed that officers from various line departments were working at maintaining the time lines. He also said that with these interventions from the government for the KJP Synod 2018, there were other collateral benefits which the area could take advantage of.
Expressing happiness at the venue site for the Synod, the Chief Minister said the venue itself was extraordinary with the beautiful natural landscape. “Shillong is faced with the challenge of having an open space where a large gathering can take place,” he said. “The Shnong of Tynring can plan to have an infrastructure that can enable to host a large congregation or gathering in the years to come,” he added while assuring assistance and support from the government.’
During the inspection, Chief Minister also inspected a road which is under construction and would lead to the place where the annual meeting would be held and the officers were urged to expedite the whole construction work since the annual meeting is just three months away
Earlier, officials from PHE, PWD (Roads) and MeECL also briefed the gathering on the interventions and the works taken by the departments and the progress in preparation for the forthcoming Synod meeting.
The DC, East Khasi Hills, P S Dkhar, Pastors from KJP Synod Mihngni, Laithumkhrah Presbytery and members of the Dorbar Shnong, Tynring were also present during the occasion.
During the meeting, the local residents also lauded the local MLA David Nongrum for taking the initiative to apprise the Chief Minister about the necessary works being done in the area for the annual meeting.
David Nongrum later informed that the village would soon have a PA system for making important announcements besides solar street light like it has been done in many other villages.
