SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked Shillong Municipal Board and the Public Health Engineering Department to attend to the deficiencies in water supply in the city.
In the recent order while hearing a PIL on the matter moved by Tilok Dasgupta, the court asked the authorities to take appropriate remedial measures before the next date of hearing.
The matter will be heard again in February.
Earlier during the hearing, government advocate S Sen Gupta and the counsel for the municipality board K Baruah had sought more time, but the court while granting time, said that considering the importance of the issues raised, it appeared appropriate to observe that the submissions as made by the petitioner in the PIL petition may be duly examined by the concerned authorities and address the deficiencies.
