TURA: The opposition NPP has attacked Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for his order declaring December 28th and 29th as mandatory working days terming it as ‘insensitive’ decision.
“We condemn the insensitive decision of the Dr Mukul Sangma-led Government. Christmas and New Year is a time everyone in Meghalaya cherishes as a time meant for family and loved ones where everyone comes together to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“This action of Dr. Mukul Sangma speaks volumes of his callous and insensitive attitude. It would seem that people are being made to work on these days only to facilitate laying of more Foundation Stones by Dr Mukul Sangma,” stated MLA and NPP national spokesperson James K Sangma in a statement to the media.
The NPP has demanded that the Chief Minister immediately revoke the order stating that families need to be together during this holy and festive season.
