SHILLONG: The leaders of Mawlai 2017-Social Service Organisation (M:17-SSO) withdrew their support to the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Wednesday stating “double standards” by the party.
The organisation also dissolved the PDF zonal committee in Mawlai, which was formed on October 19, terming the party as “childish and foolish”.
LS Lyngdoh, general secretary of M:17-SSO, said though Teibor Pathaw was projected as the party candidate from Mawlai constituency, another candidate is reportedly vying for ticket.
“In a letter to us, the central body leaders said ticket is undecided and that its allotment is monitored by the party’s central election committee,” said Lyngdoh and sought clarification from PDF.
Meanwhile, Pathaw said he was being assured by PN Syiem, who is proposed to be the PDF leader, that he would get the ticket. “It is a party without any foundation,” Pathaw said as he folded the PDF flag.
Lyngdoh said the party’s central leadership did not communicate any development to members in Mawlai and even membership forms were not distributed.
