SHILLONG: The MeECL management has started negotiations with representatives of the MeECL Progressive Workers’ Union.
On Day 1 of the talks at Lumjingshai, the headquarters of MeECL, the management conceded to some of the important demands of the casual workers, said a TUR statement on Thursday.
Workers are going to be paid the wages as per the latest rates from December and pending arrears from 2015 will be released before Christmas. The management has also agreed to start negotiations with the union about implementation of ‘equal pay for equal work’. The demand for regularization will also be processed.
