MAWKYRWAT: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mawkyrwat Mandal has received a big boost with many people, including women members, of other parties coming under its fold.
Recently, the party held a meeting where a large number of people, especially women, were present. The meeting was also attended by Seibor Myrthong, president of Mawkyrwat Mandal, and Skanding Ramsiej, president of BJP South West Khasi Hills.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, BJP ticket aspirant from Mawkyrwat Poland Sohphoh said the party is getting better each day. “Many people from Jakrem, Pynden Mawthawiang and Sngimawlein area as well as from other villages are joining the party,” Sohphoh said.
Candidates of other parties are now panicked because they know that the BJP Mawkyrwat will give them a good fight, he added. The party is also strengthening its based in the constituency by electing office bearers of the Mahila Morcha. Goldenfield Wahlang has been elected as president, Evershining Lyngdoh as general secretary and Ridalin Lyngkhoi as vice president.
