Mawphanlur gets zero-energy pump

SHILLONG: A zero-energy hydraulic pump was unveiled recently in West Khasi Hills.
A hydraulic ram pump is energy efficient and depends entirely on the energy of flowing water.
The objective of this project is to lift water from spring sources below the habitations to a higher vantage point for supplying to households using gravity.
The initiative was taken up by the Meghalaya basin Development Authority, MGNREGA, Nagaland Empowerment of People through Energy Development and GIZ.
At Mawphanlur, the pump will lift water to a tank located at 300 ft.
