Rs 1.60 Cr in cash, 130 kg ganja recovered

GUWAHATI: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday recovered Rs 1.60 crore in cash and arrested one Amit Kumar Sharma who was suspected to be carrying the money from Tinsukia to Rajasthan. The entire amount of money was recovered in Rs 2000 denomination.
The arrested person is an employee of a company based in Tinsukia in eastern Assam. He is being questioned by the GRP and further investigation is on.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident Assam Police recovered 130 kg of contraband ganja from a truck at Manja in Karbi Anglong on Sunday. Police have arrested one Ranjan Sharma for carrying the contraband substance. The ganja was being carried from Imphal in Manipur to Guwahati.
