SHILLONG: The rebel Congress legislators have no desire to remain with the party.
The most senior leader among the group, Rowell Lyngdoh, said on Sunday that they will join NPP at an appropriate time.
After a question was asked on Friday to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma regarding the return of rebel legislators, he compared them with those who are undergoing labour pain and suggested that they would return after the ordeal.
However, Rowell said the legislators, who are leaving the party, will have a meeting after the session to decide the future course of action. “We will meet after the session to decide whether to resign as MLAs or wait for the announcement of polls,” Lyngdoh said.
Besides Lyngdoh, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar and Ngaitlang Dhar will join NPP. The resignation of Congress legislator Comingone Ymbon from the Cabinet was a blow to the party before the polls.
Ymbon is expected to join NPP along with other rebel legislators.
